Author Guidelines

Dimensi Utama Teknik Sipil is a peer-reviewed journal published under the Master Program in Civil Engineering, Petra Christian University. It aims to provide civil engineering-related theoretical, practical, and managerial contributions to scholars and practitioners. Dimensi Utama Teknik Sipil journal welcomes the submission of manuscripts most notably in the field of construction project management, construction materials, structural engineering, and geotechnical engineering.

Publications of articles related to the aforementioned fields of inquiry are made twice a year, in April and October, which require a transfer of copyright in the article to the publisher. The latter ensures a proper dissemination of information under the law enforced by the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education.

Submission declaration and verification

Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis or as an electronic preprint, see 'Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication' section of our ethics policy for more information), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the copyright-holder. To verify originality, your article may be checked by the originality detection service CrossCheck.

Changes to authorship

Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor. To request such a change, the Editor must receive the following from the corresponding author: (a) the reason for the change in author list and (b) written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed.

Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider the addition, deletion or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been accepted. While the Editor considers the request, publication of the manuscript will be suspended. If the manuscript has already been published in an online issue, any requests approved by the Editor will result in a corrigendum.

Copyright

Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete a 'Journal Publishing Agreement' (see more information on this). An e-mail will be sent to the corresponding author confirming receipt of the manuscript together with a 'Journal Publishing Agreement' form or a link to the online version of this agreement.

Subscribers may reproduce tables of contents or prepare lists of articles including abstracts for internal circulation within their institutions. Permission of the Publisher is required for distribution outside the institution and for all other derivative works, including compilations and translations. If excepts from other copyrighted works are included, the author(s) must obtain written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) in the article.

For open access articles: Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete an 'Exclusive License Agreement' (more information). Permitted third party reuse of open access articles is determined by the author's choice of user license.

Basic manuscript format

Excluding the title and abstract pages, all articles to be published are less than 20 pages, 1-inch margins on all sides, and use 11-point fonts. All inclusive, the final accepted manuscripts have less than 8,000-word counts.  The title page informs title, author(s), and affiliation(s). This is followed by an abstract of 150 words or less, including a list of four to six keywords. The title, but not the author’s names, should reappear in page 2, thereby ensuring anonymity for reviewing purposes. Page 3 and beyond are reserved for the main content of the article. Locate tables, graphics, and references at the end of the manuscript.

Manuscript elements

The blind peer-review process of this journal requires two separate files for each submission of the article: (1) Title Page, and (2) Main Content. Please do not include any identifying information anywhere within the Main Content file. See the Author Guide Pack for a detailed description of the manuscript elements and format.

Manuscript format

Title

The title should be clear and concise, and should not exceed 25 words

Abstract

The abstract offers a snapshot of the manuscript by summarizing its key components and should not exceed 150 words

Keywords

Identify 4-6 keywords that best represent the topic of the manuscript

Main text

The writing of the main text must adhere to the following aspects:

• Number the page on the upper right corner
• Please do not add headers/footers on each page

Mathematical notations

Place any equations on the center of the page. For multiple equations, number each equation with parentheses flush with the left margin. Use Equation Editor where applicable in any word processing software.

References

References are listed in alphabetical order, and should be in 11-point font. Please ensure coherence of cited works within the text and in the list of references.

The Dimensi Utama Teknik Sipil subscribes to the reference formatting issued by the APA 6th edition and the use of reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote. Authors are encouraged to use the Mendeley Reference Manager and Citation Generator for in-text citations and bibliography. 

Footnotes

Each footnote is in plain text, numbered superscript style, and should not exceed 40 words. Accepted articles contain no more than 10 footnotes, each of which should not exceed 40 words, and must be concise. 

Tables

Tables should be numbered consecutively (in order of their appearance on the text), and has its own dedicated page. Table placement within the text should be marked accordingly (e.g. “Insert Table 1 about here”). 

Figures

Figures refer to various materials including, but not limited to, line drawings, maps, charts, graphs, diagrams, photos, web screenshots. Each of which should be numbered consecutively (in order of their appearance on the text), and has its own dedicated page. Figure placement within the text should be marked accordingly (e.g. “Insert Table 1 about here”). Unless otherwise paid by the authors for the printing costs, colored figures must be transferred to gray-scaled images prior to submission. 

Appendix

Appendices appear after the references. For multiple appendices, each must be labelled with letters (e.g. Appendix A, Appendix B) in order of appearance. A single appendix does not require labelling (Appendix).

Acceptance

Proof correction

Corresponding authors will receive an e-mail with a link to our online proofing system, allowing annotation and correction of proofs online. The environment is similar to MS Word: in addition to editing text, you can also comment on figures/tables and answer questions from the Copy Editor. Web-based proofing provides a faster and less error-prone process by allowing you to directly type your corrections, eliminating the potential introduction of errors.

If preferred, you can still choose to annotate and upload your edits on the PDF version. All instructions for proofing will be given in the e-mail we send to authors, including alternative methods to the online version and PDF.

We will do everything possible to get your article published quickly and accurately. Please use this proof only for checking the typesetting, editing, completeness and correctness of the text, tables and figures. Significant changes to the article as accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with permission from the Editor. It is important to ensure that all corrections are sent back to us in one communication. Please check carefully before replying, as inclusion of any subsequent corrections cannot be guaranteed. Proofreading is solely your responsibility.
